Sweet vs. Romantic...

Since we were married nearly two years ago (in 22 days), Tim and I have debated several times on the theme of sweet vs. romantic. Tim has always considered himself a romantic while I have always felt he is so sweet. And although he does not lack in the romance department, he is generally just sweet. So I decided to look up the definitions of the two words:

Sweet: a. pleasing to the mind or feelings (agreeable, gratifying); b. marked by gentle good humor or kindliness; c. delicately pleasing to the ear or eye

Romantic: a. marked by the imaginative or emotional appeal of what is heroic, adventurous, remote, mysterious, or idealized; b. marked by expressions of love or affection

Although these are the definitions found in Webster's online dictionary, I don't really know if they are my definitions. I think of romantic as sweeping me off my feet in a surprising fashion. I think of sweet as doing the dishes, cleaning the house, buying flowers randomly, etc. Tim is the sweetest man I've ever known. I can honestly say that since we have been together he has purchased flowers for me at least once every other month if not more. He always thinks of things before I do. When he knows I am stressed about a dirty house, I will come home to a clean house. He is very thoughtful.

Well, the other night Tim proved he is a romantic fellow. He found a babysitter (thanks rusty and whit) for Mya and took me to dinner for my birthday. The dinner was beyond delicious and what added to its perfection was the fact that we were able to eat together. I can't remember the last time that happened. Most times we go out to eat one of us has to walk around the restaurant with Mya while the other one eats and then we switch. It really takes the thrill out of eating out. Sadly the dinner was short and when we finished, Tim suggested we go home and change for his softball game. I grudgingly agreed and was disappointed that our night out was going to be cut short. However, I was surprised to walk into the house decorated in flower petals. Tim asked a friend of ours to come over and sprinkle petals on our stairs leading to our bedroom. A beautiful bouquet of flowers also awaited me at home. I wish we had a picture of my face. I was so surprised and excited. He really proved he can be romantic.

We went to the softball game which ended up being a bust because the other team forfeited and we returned to the house with little Mya. On my actual birthday, we celebrated the day by going to another wedding in Manti, eating chocolate cake with friends, playing yahtzee and buying shoes. It was a great day.
