It's funny how life can change with one phone call. Nearly a year ago, we received news by phone that we were moving to Peoria, and we just heard yesterday that we will be packing our boxes again. We will be relocating to Milwaukee in June.
Tim and I have talked about moving since November. I knew we wouldn't be staying in Peoria so I wanted to explore the best options for our family. Our top three choices: Milwaukee, Pittsburg and Kilgore (TX). Caterpillar granted us our top choice a week earlier than expected.
When Tim called yesterday, I wasn't ready for the news. I had been talking with a friend and declined his call on my phone so I could finish my conversation. I knew it had to be something serious when he called the house phone so I decided to end my original call and answer the ring. Hearing the news almost made me fall out of my seat.
I thought I'd be more excited about the news, but for some reason my heart ached just a little. It still does. I finally feel like I made a couple of good friends. Friends who I respect and admire and know the feeling is mutual. I know Mya has made great friends (and one enormous crush) here so the thought of breaking the news to her is weighing heavily on my mind. And I feel like I am progressing in my duties at church. It has taken nearly six months to understand my role in Primary (I work with the children), and now it is all going to change.
So while the move will be exciting with time...I admit I am a little uneasy with the idea right now. I've heard great things about Milwaukee, and I am anxious to eat at some of the places I discovered on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I am also happy that we will be closer to the water. I can only imagine the running routes I will find there.
I am sorry I missed yesterday's chatter. I had a bazillion chores to complete since I was living up the single life with my brother in Chicago over the weekend. I also had to prepare for preschool today. I taught the letter W...and with a lot of success I think. Mya even participated 80% of the time. That's huge. So enjoy my delayed chatter:
I've always wished I could draw...someday: Cartoonist Al Ross dies at 100
I think one of the top three topics of conversation is religion: Have We Evolved to be Religious?
I have received a few interesting questions about my religion because of politics. I like this response: Harvard invites Mormon Apostle to speak
I think I found the wedges I need for the cruise: Washi Wedge Sandal
I am excited for this meal to be on my menu next week: Butternut Squash Risotto
An adult craft that has my eye: Bandana Napkin Ring
I may or may not have turned this song up to maximum multiple times on my drive to Chicago...I still love country music: Dancin' away with my heart
A move is always scary, but I'm sure both you and your little ones will make GREAT friends!! All the best!

Isn't it ironic that this is how things turn out? It takes a good year to really start to feel comfortable in a place and then you just move. What a fun adventure for your family though. And I think its amazing to get to experience so many different places together.

I can understand your apprehension towards moving away, but I'm sure as things get sorted out and plans get made you'll start to feel more excited about the new move! Your blog isn't moving, right? Whew! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh no!!! What a bummer. We have really enjoyed getting to know you and Tim. Maybe we'll have to make a trip to the Dells someday. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are also sad, but I hear from a neighbor that Milwaukee is great. Perfect size, lots of fun for families. When do you go?
