cabo san lucas-day 2

I am so glad we had a second day in Cabo. I probably would've enjoyed all three port days in this city, but alas, we had to move on after we boarded the ship. As a group, we decided it would be worth the money to haggle someone offering boat rides and snorkels down to what we considered a reasonable price. (For those of you going on a cruise, never do the excursions offered by the cruise line. There are plenty of people waiting for the boat to dock that can give you better deals. Promise.)

We found Pancho; he was a great host mixing his English and Spanish to teach us about the beautiful coastline. He caught a fish to show us how easy it is to catch fish in Cabo by attaching a small piece of bread to a string (no fishing pole required) and throwing it in the water. The bread hardly had time to get wet before he was bringing a fresh fish on the boat. He also took us over some darker water areas just to give us a glimpse at sea lions. Those things are huge. I had never seen one outside a zoo before, and it was so fun to see so many.

We were dropped off at Pelican Rock for a couple of hours. We caught some sun and snorkeled around the rock. We saw some of the most colorful fish--bright blues, turquoise and yellows were everywhere. The water was incredibly warm that I wish we would've had more time to snorkel beyond the rock because I probably would've stayed all day.

I think we all agreed that this was our favorite stop (there were only two stops). Cabo is small enough that we quickly found our way off the beaten path and in the real homey areas of the city. We ate delicious food and enjoyed sweet apple soda that reminded us of past days. Pictures of the cuisine to come in a different post.
