The latest

Hello everyone...it's been a while. Sorry. We have been extremely busy here with school and work. I am still loving my student teaching. The kids make me laugh more than I can say. They are always saying and doing things that catch me off guard. The other day, I had the kids write a journal at the beginning of class. This is what they had to write about: How do you view older generations? (People in their 20s, 40s, 60s) How do you think they view you? I thought their answers were so funny. They thought all 20 yr. olds play video games or get married too young. 40 year olds were nearly dead. Sorry mom and dad. They said they don't know many 60 yr. olds but what they do know is that they are crabby after 50. Some kid said that his mom turned 50 last year and is trying to say that "50 is the new 30" but he just didn't believe her. I don't know if I agree with everything they said but it made me laugh. When I asked them what they thought older generations thought of them, the overall consensus was "That we are spoiled, lazy, and snotty." I am pretty sure that most adults I know think this. So I told them they hit the nail on the head. They were offended. But it is true. I can't get my kids to do homework. Everything has to be done at school. They can't even write long papers. I swear I was writing essays by the time I was in 9th grade. Oh well. Kids these days...haha. I hear that phrase all the time from the other teachers. It makes me laugh.

I have made a great friend while student teaching. Her name is Tawni. She is another student teacher from UVU. She comes up with great ideas and when we get together to plan lessons or write tests, we just laugh. We hope to teach the same grade next year. We doubt we will get a job at the same school but hope to teach the same grade so we can collaborate. Collaborating is key to teaching. I don't know how teachers don't collaborate.

I am looking for a teaching job. Every district is on a hiring freeze which may make it difficult to find a job, but I am looking. I have my first interview on March 3rd. Depending on where I get a job, we may be relocating. We have been looking for new housing. We have a few good options but would really like to stay in our ward. We just love our ward. The people are so genuine. We will keep you posted. If we don't find a teaching job, we will stay as managers where we are. The really big advantage to teaching is health benefits for me and Mya. I want her to have access to the best doctors and BYU's health insurance just doesn't cut it.

Mya has been trying to sit up. She raises herself about 3/4 the way by herself. She can sit up by herself if she is leaning on her legs. She laughs so much more now. She laughs more than she cries. She is sleeping tons better. She is rolling over and making me nervous. I can't leave her alone anymore. She is a sweet, sweet girl.

For Valentine's day, we went to Texas Roadhouse. It is one of our favorite restaurants. I love their baked potato. We both think their house salad is the best in town. And you just get a lot for your money. Tim bought me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers on Thursday. It was such a nice treat to come home to. We have been married nearly a year and a half and he hasn't really missed a month since we've been married. I am a lucky girl. He is the best husband for me.

I hope you all had a great week and felt a lot of love. I have decided love is one of the greatest gifts we can give someone else. Whether it is a person we are romantically involved with or not, love is essential in every relationship. The world would be a better place if more people loved.

It was a nice day today, so we went outside to take pictures. We went to the Provo Temple. Here is a good one of Mya blowing bubbles. She wasn't very happy about the snow.
Some sister missionaries took this picture of us. A great new addition to our family pics.
Before church...Mya's new outfit
My beautiful flowers
Tim's new sunglasses. They look great on Mya.
P.S. Matt...they are Armani. Aren't you impressed?
Just hanging out on dad and mom's bed
Mya cannot go anywhere without bibs now. She is teething and drools everywhere.
Mommy/daughter time
Big blue eyes...we hope she keeps them. It's been four months, do you think they will remain blue?
She's got a look
She can do crazy things with her lips and eyebrows. She is going to be like her dad.
Our pretty girl
So happy with dad all day
I just love her face here.
Before leaving for school. I miss Mya more than I can tell you. It is hard to be gone all day. Coming home is always a treat.

  1. She is super adorable! :) I definitely know how you feel about leaving her. I'm in your same position and even though i'm used to being back to work, I HATE leaving Maddie. :( Best of luck! Sounds like you're having a good time teaching!
