I love this time of the year.

Seriously...what's not to love? Unless you are a humbug. And I know a few of those. I love lights on the housetops. I love the freshly fallen snow. And I say freshly fallen because I hate the snow after about a day or two because it is wet and yucky. I love watching kids with Santa. Mya loved Santa from a distance but hated him up close. I think I would too. He is a little much for a little kid. Maybe next year. I love Christmas trees. We purchased our tree two weeks ago, and I love the way it smells in our house. Of course, Mya is crazy and will not leave the ornaments alone. I have had to move them progressively up the tree. Every time we put a present under the tree, she steps on it and gets another ornament. Stinker. She can't help but rip the presents under the tree. So much for waiting for Christmas morning. I am waiting to put out my gifts. I love to surprise Tim. We are both terrible at surprises. Normally we can't help but tell each other what we purchased before the actual holiday. Not this Christmas. Sorry Tim.

This Christmas is all about need. I am getting things we say we need but never get around to purchasing or doing. I am excited about my little ideas. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am that we are going to be home for Christmas. While I will miss our families, I am anxious to start our own traditions. I am already planning our Christmas breakfast. What are some of your traditions? I would love to hear because I may or may not steal them.

On a side note, I have to say how much I love holding Mya at night. Mya has been waking up a lot lately. Not only is she getting more back teeth...oh help...but she has a really bad ear infection. We started her on antibiotics last night, but we have to wait to see improvement. Last night, Mya started crying and I went to get her. I held her and rocked her in our bed until she stopped crying. Tim came in and held her too. We just ran our fingers through our hair and rubbed her belly (she loves that). Seriously...moments like that make me wonder why anyone wouldn't want kids. I can understand not being able to have them but to not want them? Mya and I have our moments. I cannot lie. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out. Sometimes she literally pulls my hair out and I scream. But the good moments are totally worth it. She is my sweet thing. I love her.

Mya right before seeing Santa

The moment she sat down...this is what happened. Poor Santa (Andrew). He experienced a lot of crying babies that night.
Happy girl

She loves presents

  2. Cute pics, Mya is growing so big! That's cool that you get to start your own traditions. One tradition I loved as a child was Santa would hide the Christmas presents around the house with written clues sending us on a scavenger hung. It made Christmas morning so fun!
