Ouch.

Think of the worst physical pain you have ever felt. What is it? A stubbed toe in which you had to count to ten to get the pain to go away? Why do we do that? Does it really work? A broken or dislocated bone? That is almost too painful for me to imagine. Your gums the day after you had your wisdom teeth taken out? I remember that day. Slipping on a sheet of ice and almost cracking your tailbone? Another story that is too funny to write about. Having your foot smashed by a piece of concrete? Sorry Mannie. I didn't mean to. Labor? After labor? The first few days of breast feeding? Stitches in the forehead? Cuts from a razor blade? I hate those. I especially hate trying to get the blood to stop running down my leg. I am glad I don't have to shave my face. I would probably require plastic surgery.

Pain. Such a terrible thing and yet without pain, how would we know what feeling great feels like? I love how my body feels after a good workout. Or the way it feels after a nap. So although pain hurts, it is necessary. I have experienced or caused some to experience most of the things mentioned above with the exception of a broken or dislocated bone. Mya is currently experiencing LOTS of pain. She has four back molars coming in and let me tell you...she is not fun to live with. She doesn't really sleep at night. Her best sleeping hours happen between 5-7:30am. Sadly, I am waking up at that time. She doesn't want to eat. She just shakes her head at everything. Or she says "No." Yep, she says no now. Oh dear. I just feel bad because I know she is in pain. I was going to put pictures of her grumpy face on the blog but was unable to catch some good ones today. She likes sucking on the tooth brush. She bites on it with her back teeth. I guess that is soothing. She also found a love of Playdo today. I forgot how much I love Playdo. I also forgot how feeble my attempts used to be to create anything other than a worm. So lame. Alas, we had a great time playing today when I came home from work. It took her mind of the pain for a little while.

What was the worst pain you have felt? Do tell. If you are lucky, I will divulge the worst pain I have experienced in the comments. And no, it was not labor. Sorry ladies. My labor was quick and almost painless.

  2. Definitely getting my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was 18. For four consecutive days the pain increased to a new heightened pitch. The agony was so fierce that I thought I might die. Then when I didn't die, I prayed that I would. I just wanted the pain to end. It was a living nightmare.

  3. I'd have to say recovery from delivery. I had an epidural so the actual labor was relatively pain free but the broken tailbone and other gross, not typical recovery side effects made sitting, etc. heck for months on end. How soon the severity of child birth dwindles though because in time, I'll be ready for round two.
I am anxious to hear yours!

  4. Lasik eye surgery...the 4 hours directly after surgery.

Everybody has a different post surgery reaction, some it feels like nothing, others it feels like an eyelash in your eyes, and then for a select few (including myself) it feels like hot lava is being poured into your eyes.

Oh, the burning pain which makes it impossible to open your eyes, everything seems too bright even though you have sunglasses on and your sweatshirt over your head. And the worst part....there is nothing you can do about it. You can't rub your eyes because you could dislodge the flaps. You just have to stick it out (or nap through like I did).

But that being said...it was totally worth it!! I love not wearing glasses or contacts anymore. If I had to do it again even knowing the kind of pain it would cause, I would do it again. I am happy it was only a 4 hour thing cause I don't think I could have bared it any longer than that.

  5. Pancreatitis/Getting my gallbladder out. They happened at the same time. Thats why I put two. And I've heard multiple women back me up in saying it's worse than labor. I can only hope I'm never in that much pain again.

  6. Aubey loves playdough too! Yay!

Worst pain I have to say...severe kidney infection that nearly killed me (literally). I was 13. Labor had NOTHING on that!!

  7. dry socket after getting wisdom teeth out or some muscle spasms I had about a month ago in my leg right after surgery. They happened in the middle of the night and I wasn't confident they would stop (pain killers can't really touch nerve pain), so it was terrifying. Prayer really helped out on that one.

  8. Worst pain: Other than the current heartache. I think the worst pain I have ever felt is when I got cortisone shots in between my three little toes on each foot. I lose feeling in my toes and occasionally had to get the shots in high school. Talk about pain.
