Miami: The Everglades

Wednesday we took advantage that Matt and Christa lived near the Everglades and went on an airboat ride to see wild alligators. Before the ride, we visited their little animal/reptile exhibit and were able to hold a baby alligator. As scary as it sounds, it wasn't scary at all. The alligators mouth was taped. Mya loved the little creature. She thought it was a stuffed animal and so she kept hitting it over the head and poking at its eye. Poor thing. Watch out for Mya. As we were walking around the exhibit, guess what we saw just hanging out in a nearby pond...a wild alligator! He didn't seem to be moving at all so I wasn't that nervous but it was an odd thing to be walking within a few feet of something that could easily bite off my leg or arm or all of Mya. The airboat ride was well worth it. We saw a large alligator in the wild and plenty of birds. Mya looked so funny in the headphones they made her wear. Her face looked huge and well, just look for yourself.

This is the alligator that was three feet from us.

This is the alligator we saw on the airboat ride.
