On Tuesday, we visited the Florida Keys. If you have not visited the Keys, I must advise you to put it on your list. It was one of the prettiest drives I have ever been on and we loved the little towns. We especially loved Key West because I guess...we spent the most time there. The culture is very alive at all hours with all the restaurants/bars playing live music. Artists line the street to show off their most recent pieces. Food stands can be found on every corner selling seafood, key lime pie on a stick, the largest chocolate chip cookies I have ever seen and frozen custard. Key West is known for its Key Lime pie. I am not always a huge fan of it, but it was delicious. We had fun walking the main drag avoiding the cross dressers and tattoo parlors and talking with all the artists. But our favorite part of Key West was the sunset. It was spectacular. I don't really know any other way to describe it. The people of the town gather together to listen to live music in the town square and watch the sun go down. Tim took some excellent pictures. He really had fun playing with the camera on this trip.
Before Key West, we stopped at Key Largo and went snorkeling in the Atlantic Ocean. We were taken to a sanctuary where people are not allowed to fish and we just jumped in the warm, teal water to see fabulous things. We loved the water. Obviously, we could not snorkel at the same time seeing as Mya had to be watched, but we divided up the time and had so much fun. While Tim snorkeled, I watched the coral reef and schools of fish through the glass bottom boat. It was a great adventure. The only thing that was bad was Mya's life jacket. She had to wear it the entire time and she hated it because it didn't allow her to move at all. But she did look so dang cute in it.
