"daddy...i don't want you to die..."

If you don't know my husband, well, I'm sorry. I think he's pretty great. He's everything I'm not and more. Especially when it comes to sports. I am pretty sure he would participate in every sport available if time permitted. However, with sports...come injuries.

Tim had his first baseball game last week. I love watching Tim play baseball because somewhere in the back of my mind I pretend we are both back in high school and I am watching him during his "glory days." Tim is really good at baseball. Always has been.

I guess part of Tim's greatness with sports stems from the fact that he gives all that he has each game. I have never seen him give less than 100%. During the last inning of the game, Tim slid into third base to save his team an out. The slide took a large chunk of skin with it. I am pretty sure his skin is now mixed in with the rocks and dirt and we may find part of it tonight when we return to the diamond. Gross. Tim swears the slide was inevitable, stating, "I couldn't stop even if I tried" whereas I think differently. His team was already up nine runs on the other team, and I just can't believe his slide was absolutely necessary. I've had to live with his nasty wound all week. I swear it stares at me at night.

While I am proud of Tim for winning the game, I really wish the win would've happened differently. When Mya saw the initial bloody sore, she just began to cry. She cried and cried. I wish I would've had my video camera because I'm sure it would've gone viral on YouTube. Next time. She kept saying, "Daddy...I don't want you to die. Please don't die. Are you sure you aren't going to die? Should we go to the hospital?" She was scared out of her mind and it took me a long time to calm her down.

So you decide...was the slide necessary? I am still undecided.

(I did grab my camera as soon as we got home and snapped pictures of her sad face."

  1. those might be some of my favorite pictures of Mya.

And like I said the other night. The slide was totally necessary.

  2. Oh, that FACE! So, so sweet. And I think that, since Mya was the one affected by the slide the most, SHE should decide whether or not her daddy should do them when the team's already up by nine runs! ;) x

  3. Awww...I'm sure it was traumitizing for her to see her daddy hurt. It kind of shaped like a heart.

What a cute sad face :)
