things i don't want to forget...

with life constantly moving and shifting, i often find myself jotting handwritten notes on old receipts about things i don't want to forget. you know--the sweet phases the peanuts pass through, the words they use to express themselves, the little ways tim shows me love, etc. here are a few of things i found written on fading receipts in my wallet:

-mya's fashion sense and sometimes lack thereof (she's been into wearing her sister's clothes which sadly fit her a little better than they do v, but she looks ridiculous. she also had a strange attachment to her winter pajamas and threw major fits if we asked her to wear cooler pajamas.)
-the way v looks in just a diaper and shoes (i'll admit it is my favorite outfit of hers)
-the handfuls of carefully crafted dandelion bouquets mya picks from all the yards down the street
-the way v avoids looking at me and buries her face into the nearest object when she's mad
-tim's face when he leans into kiss me (he can be very convincing)
-the warmth of the sun on my back as i finish my morning walks
-the fact that mya calls yawning "growling" and always says, "that was a good growl mom"
-the way v barks when you ask her what a dog says
-the girls' faces when daddy comes home (mya immediately runs outside to greet him while v stands beating the window to death)
-when mya says, "mom...i love you this much" and has her hands close together because it isn't christmas (it doesn't make sense to me but she says it all the time)
-the way v lifts her shirt or dress to reveal her "button" when we list off different body parts
-sharing a pot of kraft mac and cheese with the girls for lunch
-when tim runs his fingers through my hair to relax me at night
-all the little words v uses to communicate (up, ouuuu for ouch, mama, daddy--middle ds are silent, doggy, papa, my for mya, toes, nose, eye)
-singing "you are my sunshine" with mya with our noses pressed together
-watching the nba finals with tim (dang lebron)
-lying on the lawn looking at clouds with mya and coming up with animal shapes
-the way mya insists on helping me with the laundry
-my alone time during the peanuts' nap when i can read, ponder and sleep

a small note: i apologize for being absent recently. you have no idea all the things going on around here, but don't worry--i'll fill you in. over the past five weeks, i've written nearly eighty pages in responses to homework for my independent study courses. i just finished taking one final this afternoon after cramming for only one night on the final preparations. i've been organizing (or attempting to organize) the house for the movers who are coming tomorrow...TOMORROW! i have been trying to take the peanuts outside more since the weather is so nice which means i have little internet time. and i've just been crazy tired. i'm coming up on my third trimester and i can feel it. my belly is now inserting itself in areas i wish it wouldn't. it's harder for me to put v to bed or hold mya when she cries. let's be honest...it's harder for me to do just about everything i need to do, but i am determined and will get it done.

i will be in and out for the next week or so as we move, but i promise to stay connected.

  1. What a crazy busy time for you! I didn't realize you were in school, are you doing a masters? just studying for fun? I can't believe your move is already here, good luck my friend, if you want help in Milwaukee moving in and unpacking just call me and I'll come over, you'll be so close to me now, relatively speaking, coming over would NOT be an issue at ALL so please call me!
