I think it is fascinating to watch the technological trends. When I returned home from my mission two and a half years ago, everyone had a MySpace page. It seemed like the cool thing to do. I even made one myself. I think I have only ever looked at it twice. I bet my account has been deleted. Facebook wasn't really so big at the time but now it seems everyone is on Facebook and MySpace has phased out. I am not a fan of Facebook. I don't like the wall to wall much. I only keep my account because so many people from my mission keep in contact with me via "the wall." Although Facebook seems to be big...blogging has also become big. It was a word I did not know two years ago. I confess I have some technologically advanced friends who started blogging years ago but it was so foreign to me when I started a year ago.In the beginning I was a lame blogger. It was hard for me to think of things to write about because well...although our lives were exciting to us...they did not appear that way to others. But then, something big happened. We got pregnant. That gave me something to talk about. Then she came. That gave me more to talk about. I was the typical "mom" blogger. Posting things about Mya and how cute and sweet she was and is. Then it all changed one day when I decided I wanted my blog to be more than about Mya. Although Mya is what keeps me going all day, so does my brain. I have so many thoughts and Tim only has so many ears to hear them with. So I thought, I will write them down occasionally on the blog to see if they interest others. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don't. I am fine with that seeing as sometimes I read other blog posts and don't have anything to comment.
So why do I blog now? I blog to write. I love to write. It is a passion of mine and since I have just graduated, I have no more papers to write. So I write on my blog. I also write for the many fans and followers of Mya. I have learned she has many. I believe a blog should be a way to allow grandparents, family and friends the opportunity to see our family grow and change since we live nowhere near eachother. And I blog for me. It is a record of my life. I like it a lot. I don't really care if you do or do not. Don't be offended. I know you just were. But that's what it is about. Granted, this blog is not just written by me. Tim offers his thoughts once in and while and I love them.
So I hope you will enjoy this little blogging journey of mine as I continue to post my ideas and questions for you. I may even begin to post my recipes since I have had so many people ask me for them. I will always be totally honest with my readers as long as they are totally honest with me.
For those of you concerned about my insomnia, I will gladly tell you that I slept last night. It may have been the best sleep I have had in awhile. Thanks for the advice.

I blog to challenge and expose myself and others. We live in a society where it's faux pas to show weakness, and yet-we are braggarts if we celebrate our triumphs. Blogging is an opportunity to deliberately discuss more of life, and all of her incredible events under a microscope.
ReplyDeleteI also write as an escape. When acting is slow (and it has been painfully slow for me this year.) I can still express myself artistically and share my voice. As you pointed out, perhaps no one cares. But I do. I want to have a voice and a thought to pass along. And I care desperately about the ideas you share, as I often learn and grow with them.

ReplyDeleteI blog for a lot of reasons...my first being that it is a way for my family and friends around the country to stay in touch since they are all horrible at picking up the phone and calling me...wait, or is that me? I also love the idea of turning my blog into a book and not always feeling guilty for not being better at journaling and record keeping. And lastly...I blog because its fun and it helps me relax after such long days.
