angel in charge--please say you were sleeping

dear angel in charge of my book of life,

i think i'll call you joe. because even if that isn't your real name, it ought to be. joe is such a pleasant name--just rolls off the tongue.

joe...i have a favor to ask of you. please tell me you took a long catnap and missed my epic failure of a day. if you didn't, would you mind slapping my wrist, telling me to do better tomorrow and erasing today from the book of life? pretty please.

do you want to know something really sad? there i sat on my wobbly kitchen chair with tears filling my eyes overwhelmed with the day when i opened my phone to find someone else was having a much worse day than i was. a high school acquaintance lost her 21 month old daughter to a tragic drowning accident last night. i was crying over spilled juice, excessive whining and a broken doll once gifted to me. i hope you sent your angel buddies to her instead of me. my problems seemed minute the moment i read of her experience.

joe...forgive me for today. tomorrow has to be better. please record it if it is. if not, let's just take a break for a few days.

yours truly,
janine

(truthfully...today was awful. these five minutes of cuddly kisses and happy squeals were probably the only good things that came from it. two minutes after this picture i was pulling mya's hair from v's fingers. not my favorite day to say the least but i still love my princesses.)
