Happy 4th of July

We had a splendid quiet 4th of July. Unlike most of the crazy Provo residents that camped outside to watch the parade which started at 6, we camped inside on our comfortable beds and woke up around 8. We ate delicious waffles, strawberries and bacon with our friend Chrissy and relaxed on the couch until we went up the canyon in the afternoon. We had plans to go tubing down the Provo river, but the plans fell through when we realized that was everyone else's plan too and all the tubes had been rented out. We returned home to put Mya down for a nap and watched a patriotic movie to get us in the right spirits as we ate good old fashioned Brick Oven pizza. When Mya woke up, we snapped some great pictures of her in her 4th of July outfit and waited for the ribs to be done cooking. I never buy ribs because quite frankly, they never sit well with my stomach. But I know how much Tim loves ribs and thought it would be a fun treat. They turned out great. After dinner we went out back to watch Tim put on our very own special firework show. Mya didn't like the fireworks. Especially the ones that made the loud crackling noises. She clung to my sleeve the entire time. We had to move from our backyard to the street when we realized the fireworks were staining our patio and since we don't own the place, we didn't want to have any trouble. On the street we lit the last of our fireworks and began to play with sparklers. Mya didn't cry with the sparklers, and I am not sure if she didn't cry because she was about to fall asleep or if she really didn't find them scary. We put Mya to bed and set up a blanket and chairs to await the grand fireworks from the Stadium of Fire at BYU. Unforunately, the trees were in the way and all we could see were the tops of the fireworks. We ran inside to our upstairs bedroom and caught a better view of them, but in the end we thought our show was better. And that was how we spent our holiday.

  1. Mya looks cute in her 4th outfit. Tim is lucky he got ribs. I made Jared go to a potluck and eat whatever was there. I also had fun putting our kids in the patriotic colors but Nory pooped in hers soon after we got it on her. Happy 4th!
