And while I could've written last night, I selfishly chose to finish the last book in the Hunger Games series with Tim. We've been reading it aloud to each other for the past week and a half and well, we were very ready to find out how the book resolved itself. Sadly, the resolve was lacking somewhat. I felt the author put so much into the preparation of the war that the war itself was short and strange. The book left me disturbed.
I didn't sleep well last night so in my wakeful periods I sat thinking about the book and its purpose. I wondered about the motive behind the series and how the author came up with the idea. Had she been privy to a different life and wanted us to know about it? Was she watching her children play guns and arrows in the yard and think why not have children battling each other in an arena? Or was it pure fiction created from a more intelligent mind? I do not know the answer. I feel mixed about the series because while it kept my attention with every page, I am not sure how much I loved the idea of children killing children.
What are your thoughts on the book? Did you like it? Hate it? Haven't read it yet? Do tell.
Enjoy my chatter for the day:

I didn't read the books, and I never will. I consider books like that to be such a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteI read the first Twilight book because SO many people loved it that I became curious.
While it did keep me turning the pages, I did not like the storyline overall and I thought the main character was annoying. After that I decided that I'm not really into reading adult/teenage fiction.
I did see the Hunger Games movie. I thought it was horrible. It was also fairly predictable. I found myself wondering when it would finally end.
I still haven't seen the movie yet!! I love the books, although was disappointed in the last book. I felt like it was way too rushed.
ReplyDeleteHoping to see the movie soon.
