We chose to focus our Easter thoughts this year on our dear friend Anne. She passed away a few weeks ago, leaving behind a doting husband of 65 years. Every time we see or talk to Dick, he tells us a new tidbit about his relationship with Anne, and he tears up every time. Just after she died, he walked by our house while I was outside gardening. I offered my condolences, and he said, "Janine, do you remember how you called me last September and offered to sit with Anne so I could go on walks, but I declined?" I nodded. He added, "I'm glad I declined. I am happy I spent every moment of her life with her." He loved her so, and we wanted to teach the kids that because of Jesus Christ, Dick and Anne could be together again.
It was, perhaps, the greatest lesson we've taught them about Easter.
